Beautiful stitchery on the front of the needlebook...

...Another stitchery on the inner flap...

...Little pockets for scissors c(left- handed for D3 of course!) and a felt heart for keeping needles safe...

... Pin cushion with the same beautiful essentials carefully sewn into the side...

... The bag to keep everything in, made out of scraps from many other projects!

...The inner of the bag, obviously had to be shown with that Cath-Kidston-esque lining...

All the finished products!

some kind of wonderful bag

I made this for D3's 14th birthday present from Anni Downs book Some kind of wonderful. I really enjoyed this small project alyhough I ended up putting in the zip a different way to the pattern.
Sorry the pic is on its side! I don't know how to rotate it.

Feather Your Nest ENTRY Make it Do Wallhanging

Well, I have entered this little wall hanging into the Feather your nest competition at stumblesandstitches.blogspot.com

This wallhanging has been in my mind for a while now, ever since I was gifted some vintage curtains to turn into “something nice”. I thought the saying was very apt to reuse and recycle the fabrics with! The words are appliquéd and stitched using various techniques and many other upcycled fabrics, mostly from my children’s old clothes and the buttons....well they are all vintage and cut off our old clothing too. I really enjoyed making this and pushing myself to have a go at different stitching techniques and overall I am very happy with the effect. It is hanging in our hallway and I love it there.

Can't wait to see all the other entries.

I'm a winner...

This is my first post so bear with me if I ramble on a bit. I just found out I won a  Layer Cake by Moda the "Collection for Cause - Faith" from the St Patrick's day blog hop which was offered by Pam at http://offavondaleroad.blogspot.com/. I am made up as I have never won on anything I entered before!

We (that's me and daughters 2, 3 and 4) went to the NEC Sewing for pleasure show on the weekend. All of us had a great time, took in some workshops and saw lots of new and inspiring techniques. More on those in another post when I've worked out how to upload pics to the computer from d2's ipod; or d3 has done it for me!

We wanted to start this blog to record all the crafty things we get up to, so hopefully we can look back and see how we have improved. I'm hoping that most posts will include lots of photos like these of a notebook cover for my mum I made recently.
